Discover why fall is an ideal time to plant your garden! This garden talk led by Courtney Denning from Deeply Rooted Landscapes, covers the benefits of autumn planting for both gardeners and plants, including stronger root development and easier establishment.
Learn a practical planting timeline for the Dayton, Ohio area, and explore how native plants can thrive in your fall garden. The session also emphasizes “less is more” for fall garden chores, helping you care for your landscape efficiently.
Take home a handout with a list of native flowers, trees, and shrubs that provide beautiful fall color.
After the workshop, guests are welcome to explore the lavender and wildflower fields to pick a bundle of seasonal flowers to bring home as well!
Lavender lemonade and water will be provided.

Instructor Bio
Courtney Denning is an environmental educator and one of the Garden Designers and Consultants at Deeply Rooted Landscapes, as well as the company's Webmaster, IT Administrator, and Social Media Coordinator. She started working at DRL in June 2022. Courtney has a background in plant ecology and has been studying wildlife since childhood. Her work spans environmental education, library programming, and digital communications, including launching the Piqua Seed Library. At Deeply Rooted Landscapes, she designs gardens, consults with homeowners, and manages web and social media content. At home, she grows more than 200 Ohio native plant species on less than one quarter acre.
